New diaconate assignments announced

The third cohort of deacons for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas was the largest class ever, with 20 men ordained to the permanent diaconate in 2020. New deacon assignments are announced below. PHOTO BY JENNY FRAZEE

Father John A. Riley, vicar general-chancellor, announces the following appointments made by Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, effective July 1, unless otherwise noted:

Deacon Dan Ondracek, from diaconal ministry at Most Pure Heart of Mary Parish, Topeka, to diaconal ministry at Prince of Peace Parish, Olathe.

Deacon Stephen Nguyen, to service in the archdiocesan office of marriage and family life, and continuing his diaconal ministry at St. Ann Parish, Prairie Village.

Deacon Michael Wilson, to service in the archdiocesan office of the permanent diaconate, and continuing his diaconal ministry at the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle, Kansas City, Kansas.

Deacon Mark Mies, to service in the archdiocesan office of the permanent diaconate, and continuing his diaconal ministry at St. Joseph Parish, Shawnee.

Deacon Jody Madden, from diaconal ministry at St. Bernard Parish, Wamego, to diaconal ministry at St. Benedict Parish, Atchison, and continuing as master of ceremonies and assisting the rural youth ministry office. 

Deacon Chris Seago, from diaconal ministry at Mater Dei Parish, Topeka, to diaconal ministry at Christ the King Parish, Topeka, effective Aug. 1.
