International nonprofit Unbound recognized Archbishop Emeritus Joseph F. Naumann with its Pilgrimage of Faith Award during a ceremony Oct. 16 at the organization’s headquarters in Kansas City, Kansas.
For almost 20 years, Archbishop Naumann has been a staunch supporter of Unbound’s mission to support families and communities on their paths out of poverty. He has also been a sponsor for 19 years for 12 seminarians from five countries through Unbound’s vocation sponsorship program.
Priests from across the United States who preach on behalf of people in poverty attended the award ceremony.
The award included a wooden cross hand-carved by the father of a former sponsored child and scholarship student who is now an Unbound staff member in El Salvador.
Founded by Catholic laypeople in 1981, Unbound works with over 260,000 individuals and families who are creating their paths out of poverty with support from U.S. sponsors and donors. To learn more about Unbound’s mission, visit the website at: www.unbound.org.
