The Leaven offers a full line of newspaper advertising services and is distributed to more than 50,000 households.


Advertising Policy:

  • All advertising is subject to approval and editing.
  • Liability for errors shall not exceed the cost of the space occupied by the error.
  • Should any government body levy a tax on any advertising, the tax will become an additional charge over and above the rate.
  • Rates and mechanical requirements are subject to change at The Leaven’s discretion.
  • The Leaven does not accept any political advertising or 800 numbers.
  • The Leaven runs ads on a continuous, weekly basis by default. Advertisers must email The Leaven to stop an ad from running or request a specific number or runs.
How do I place a classified ad?

1. Email your ad, billing address and phone number to Olivia Martin-Davies (olivia.martin@theleaven.org).

2. First-time advertisers: prepay for the first run of your ad. The Chancery’s accounting office will email you a prepayment link.

3. You’re all set! Your ad will run on a continuous, weekly basis unless you email Olivia otherwise.

The Chancery’s accounting office will email you a statement at the end of each month your ad runs. You can pay by check or credit card.

How much do classified ads cost?

$20 for the first five lines, $1.50 per line thereafter. Prices are per issue.

When is the deadline to place a classified ad?

Ads need to be emailed to Olivia (olivia.martin@theleaven.org) by 12 p.m. on Thursday 1 week prior to a given issue’s publication.

When are issues of The Leaven published?

The Leaven publishes weekly on Fridays from Labor Day to Memorial Day, skipping 5th Fridays of the month.

We publish biweekly in the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day).

How do I change or stop my ad?

How much do display ads cost? What sizes do you offer?

Ads must be a minimum of 1 inch in depth and in increments of 1 inch thereafter. Ads that measure less than 1 inch will be charged for the full 1 inch.

Standard advertising columns are 2 1/4 inches (14 picas) wide, and can run as deep as 15.5 inches.

Advertiser must email original photographs for use in ads to Todd Habiger at: todd.habiger@theleaven.org.
