A few weeks ago, Archbishop Shawn McKnight announced organizational changes here at the chancery offices to strengthen support for parishes and ministries.

You may have read the article in The Leaven from a couple of weeks ago, or browsed information on the archdiocesan website, so I wanted to use this column to share with you how your gifts to the Archdiocesan Call to Share are making a difference now and into the future.

In listening to the archbishop’s vision, I am especially struck by his conviction that each of these developments is directed toward renewing, strengthening, and accompanying our parishes. The ministry and work of sharing the Gospel do not just happen at an administrative building like the chancery; that work is carried out in parishes and homes. Anywhere two are gathered, God is there.

With your continued support, the work of sharing the Gospel, bringing new people into the church, forming young disciples, supporting college students through discernment, and so many more ministries will continue, grow, and flourish within the support and upcoming changes.

As I shared at the time of the transition from Archbishop’s Call to Share to the Archdiocesan Call to Share, it is only through our collective commitment that these ministries can flourish. No one parish can meet every need across the archdiocese on its own, but together, we are able to strengthen one another by assisting parishes through training, resources, and support, working in unity to advance the mission of the Kingdom of God.

One initiative you have heard me speak about often is the Blessed Seelos Institute at Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas, which provides ongoing formation for all the Catholic school teachers throughout the archdiocese. This is one meaningful example of your gifts in action.

Prairie Star Ranch in Williamsburg will continue to provide fantastic, year-’round opportunities for the youth of the archdiocese to grow closer in their relationship with Christ, while also providing enriching formation for adults.

Thank you for your continued support of the ministries of the archdiocese. Your gifts to the Archdiocesan Call to Share continue to make a big impact. The structure may shift, but the goal of bringing people closer into relationship with Christ has not changed.

I invite you today, if you have not made a gift to this year’s Archdiocesan Call to Share Annual Appeal, to please consider doing so by visiting: https://archkck.org/donate/home.
