Archbishop blesses new pipe organ

LEAWOOD — It took two years to build and months to install, but St. Michael the Archangel’s new pipe organ is finally in place.

Archbishop Shawn McKnight blessed the long-awaited organ during a festive service of Easter Vespers on at the Leawood church May 3.

The new organ was built by Saint John’s Abbey Organ Builders under the artistic leadership of master organ builder Martin Pasi. 

Abbey Organ Builders has contracts for several more organs, including a landmark organ for St. Benedict’s Abbey in Atchison slated for completion in 2032.
