Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame player Ernie Banks coined the phrase, “Let’s play two,” out of his love of the game and desire to play a doubleheader every day. In high school softball, doubleheaders are a fixture of the sport. On May 5, Hayden High School and Manhattan High School played a doubleheader at Hayden in Topeka. Manhattan took the first game 7-1, but Hayden came back and won the next 10-5 for a split in the series.
