The Year of Mercy began in the archdiocese with the opening of six Holy doors at: The Cathedral of St. Peter, Kansas City, Kansas; Sacred heart, Mound City; St. Benedict’s Abbey, Atchison; St. Mary, St. Benedict; Mater Dei-Assumption, Topeka; and Divine Mercy, Gardner. The archbishop has designated each of these churches as a pilgrimage site, which provides the opportunity to obtain a Holy Year of Mercy Indulgence.
